/non-free/afio/afio

archive file manipulation program

Afio manipulates groups of files, copying them within or between filesystems and an afio archive. . Afio archives are portable as they contain only ASCII-formatted header information. Afio makes cpio-format archives. Afio deals somewhat gracefully with input data corruption. Afio supports multi-volume archives during interactive operation. Afio can make compressed archives that are much safer than compressed tar or cpio archives. . Afio is best used as an `archive engine' in a backup script.

incident response framework - pre-built client templates

GRR Rapid Response is an incident response framework focused on remote live forensics. It consists of an agent (client) that is installed on target systems, and server infrastructure that can manage and talk to the agent. . This package contains pre-built components which are used to build Linux, Windows, and MacOSX client installers and which cannot currently built from source on a Debian system.

/non-free/iozone3/iozone3

Filesystem and Disk Benchmarking Tool

Iozone is useful for determining a broad benchmark of filesystem performance. The benchmark tests file I/O performance for the following operations: Read, write, re-read, re-write, read backwards, read strided, fread, fwrite, random read/write, pread/pwrite variants.

/non-free/jhove/jhove

JSTOR/Harvard Object Validation Environment

The concept of representation format, or type, permeates all technical areas of digital repositories. Policy and processing decisions regarding object ingest, storage, access, and preservation are frequently conditioned on a per-format basis. In order to achieve necessary operational efficiencies, repositories need to be able to automate these procedures to the fullest extent possible. JSTOR and the Harvard University Library are collaborating on a project to develop an extensible framework for format validation: JHOVE (pronounced "jove"), the JSTOR/Harvard Object Validation Environment. The initial release of JHOVE includes modules for arbitrary byte streams, ASCII and UTF-8 encoded text, GIF, JPEG2000, and JPEG, and TIFF images, AIFF and WAVE audio, PDF, HTML, and XML; and text and XML output handlers.

Tools for MAME and MESS

MAME is a hardware emulator: it faithfully reproduces the behavior of many arcade machines (it is not a simulation). MESS is an emulator for various consoles and computing systems, sharing a lot of codebase with the MAME project. . This package provides tools to be used with MAME and MESS. It currently contains: castool -- generic cassette manipulation tool for MESS chdman -- MAME Compressed Hunks of Data CHD manager imgtool -- generic image manipulation tool for MESS jedutil -- binary to/from JEDEC file converter ldresample -- Laserdisc audio synchronizer and resampler ldverify -- Laserdisc AVI/CHD verifier romcmp -- ROM comparison utility program testkeys -- keyboard code viewer

NVIDIA System Management Interface

The NVIDIA Management Library (NVML) provides a monitoring and management API. The application "nvidia-smi" is the NVIDIA System Management Interface (NVSMI) and provides a command line interface to this functionality. . See the output from the --help command line option for supported models and further information.

NVIDIA CUDA Multi Process Service (MPS)

The Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA) enables NVIDIA graphics processing units (GPUs) to be used for massively parallel general purpose computation. . CUDA MPS is a feature that allows multiple CUDA processes to share a single GPU context. CUDA MPS should be transparent to CUDA programs. . CUDA MPS requires a device that supports Unified Virtual Address (UVA) and has compute capability SM 3.5 or higher. Pre-CUDA 4.0 APIs are not supported under CUDA MPS.
